SECURITY OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS
The analysis of the Development Strategy of the University of Sinergija Bijeljina and the experience in teaching on licensed study programs of the first and second cycle of academic studies resulted in the need for licensing of the study program on the third cycle of academic studies called “SECURITY OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS”.
The motive for introducing such a doctoral study program is, among other things, the fact that there are no study programs of a similar profile in the Republic of Srpska, both at state and private faculties.
The changes in the global and our market in recent years, which were caused by the widespread use of the Internet as an infrastructure for communication and due to the mass use of Web applications in business (from individuals, through organizations to the state itself), justify the existence of the study program “Computer Systems Security”. The situation is similar with applications for mobile phones. The basis of the aforementioned modern electronic transactions is the application of cryptological data protection mechanisms. Acquiring new scientific knowledge, about methods and scientific techniques that are applied in developed university centers of European and non-European countries, and in this way to offer even better quality higher education to young people in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The goal of the study program is the education of highly skilled scientific personnel who can treat the problems of advanced cryptosystems with a rigorous theoretical-mathematical apparatus based on Shannon’s information theory, Kolmogorov’s theory of complexity, as well as the most modern theoretical settings of distributed systems for testing hypotheses within modern computer communication networks.
One of the important goals of this study program is to develop the ability of candidates to formulate the problems of advanced cryptosystems in a way that is recognizable in other related scientific disciplines such as information theory, theory of protective coding, theory of statistical solutions, theory of complexity, discrete optimization and artificial intelligence. In this way, a critical scientific-methodological framework is acquired, necessary for solving extremely complex problems that lie at the basis of the analysis and synthesis of advanced cryptosystems.
The purpose of the study program “Security of computer systems” is the development of new scientific methods of analysis and synthesis of cryptosystems, systems for authentication and detection of violations of security mechanisms in modern computer systems, as well as the development of critical thinking in the evaluation of existing systems, methods and solutions in this domain.
The structure of the study program is harmonized with the achieved level of development of information technologies. Doctoral academic studies “Security of computer systems” last three years and are valued at 180 ECTS.
Also, for reasons of economy and rationality, we decided to introduce a new study program of the third cycle, which would satisfy part of the requirements of the labor market in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The PhD study program “Computer Systems Security” is implemented in cooperation with the Singidunum University from Belgrade and is designed to ensure the acquisition of socially justifiable and useful competencies, based on the quality staff available to both Universities.
